Vintage Lingerie

I recently received an e-mail from a guy who was looking for old design underwear. Now, I really can't think of a reason why someone would wanna torture herself with vintage lingerie, unless she is an actress who is required to strip off her Victorian gown on stage, or something like that.

Anyway, that e-mail intrigued me and off I went online looking for vintage lingerie and I found this online store called SleeknChic.com which deals in vintage lingerie and stockings. In short, vintage = antique = ancient = OLD.

I'm not sure there are anyone who still wants to wear these items. They look older than my grandmother's era.

Some of the pieces are new, some are gently worn. Some have storage spots, some are in mint condition.

The more I look at the items, the more I can't figure out who would want to wear these. They definitely are not for daily usage, definitely not suitable for Malaysia weather (look so stuffy!) and MOST definitely unsexy!!

Ergonomic Underwear for the Well-endowed

Some of you may know that I sell lingerie online. Due to this, I do a lot of research on what is hot, what is not and a lot of my male friends have been subjected to my interviews on what they like and what they don't.

Well, so far, I haven't really sold any men's items in a big way except for the odd pieces here and there. There are men who told me to bring in men's g-strings. I asked my friends and they told me that men don't like wearing Gs. But then there are men who told me that they wear female lingerie, so what is what?

The preferred men's underwear in the United States is the boxers. Walk one round in one of the shopping complexes and you will even have a hard time looking for regular briefs.

Recently, I came across ergonomic underwear. Ergowear.com is an online store that sells ergonomic men's underwear and swimwear. Ergonomic underwear is generally targeted at men for obvious reasons.

I first came across the word "ergonomic" when I had the opportunity to test out an ergonomic office chair. It really does fit the body so well, it's like being one with the chair.

And to my friend who told me, "My balls big lahhh" in reply to my question on why he doesn't wear G-strings, perhaps ergo thongs is the answer for him.

Elle Macpherson Intimates - Advertising Campaign

I recently came across images that were used in an old advertising campaign of Elle Macpherson Intimates. Yes, this is the lingerie line owned by supermodel Elle "The Body" Macpherson.

Elle Macpherson is very famous in her home country, Australia and understandably, Elle Macpherson Intimates is the number one selling women's lingerie line there.

Anyway, in this post, I would like to feature some really artistic images that were used. If you look at the images, the face of the model is never revealed. These images remind me of the Wong Kar Wai movie, In The Mood For Love.

In the movie, the faces of the spouses of Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung were never revealed. We could only hear them but not see them. It's intriguing and fuels our imagination. It's up to us to give them a face.

After writing my previous post, I realised that I have yet to dedicate one post to Gisele Bundchen, the top supermodel of the world, apart from mentioning her in passing in connection with being one of Victoria's Secret Angels.

Gisele Caroline Bundchen was born on July 20th, 1980, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She was spotted by an Elite agent in a Sao Paulo McDonald's while eating Big Mac with her friends when she was 14 years old (make mental note to eat at McD!)

She moved to the city against her father's wishes and at 15, participated in and won the "Elite Look Modeling Competition".

Gisele, standing at 5ft 11in, is a natural beauty. Perhaps it's all in the genes. Her five sisters, Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, Patricia, and Rafaela are all waiting to follow in her footsteps.

Gisele, who refused a role in the upcoming Charlie's Angels, is touted as the most beautiful girl in the world and has appeared on the cover of all major glossy fashion magazines.

Gisele's boob size has been a controversial topic. Many had questioned if they were fake but she has denied to have had implants. Although Gisele has been shot almost naked many times over, she is said to have never fully revealed her breasts (that is, if you ignore my bonus image lah). Oh, what a tease :p

Calvin Klein Underwear

I recently sold off two pairs of Calvin Klein cotton thongs. They retailed at USD9 each. Me, I sold them for MYR22 only. What a steal.

Calvin Klein is best known for comfort. Their boxers are very popular. Like Victoria's Secret, Calvin Klein usually has their brand name around the waist band of the underwear. They also may have the logo on the front.

Although I do not find Calvin Klein designs particularly sexy, I do find them very proper and comfortable to be worn.

After my sales, I decided to check out the website of Calvin Klein Underwear. It's very classy and in black and white. However, I find it kind of hard to navigate, perhaps due to the flash they are using and the rather crappy internet connection I'm currently suffering from. The large black and white images are difficult to load too.

I am someone who usually likes to open my links in a new tab/window. This way, I can be sure I have browsed through every page, but CK's website disallows that. The pages are also kind of difficult to navigate. I found myself starting from the homepage time and again.

Having said that, Calvin Klein Underwear has beautiful shots of lingerie models.

Kelly Brook is another celebrity who launched her own line of lingerie. The launch in October, 2006 following the success of her swimwear line earlier this year. Like Katie Price, Kelly Brook also designed her own lingerie line.

Kelly Brook, whose real name is Kelly Ann Parsons was born in England n November 23rd, 1979.

Kelly Brook started modelling at the age of 16, after winning a beauty contest. Her work included advertising campaigns, including for lingerie line, Bravissimo, and Foster's beer. She has also done a large amount of swimwear, sportswear, and hosiery modeling, and a fair bit of nude & semi-nude modeling.

A Chinese transsexual has made an outfit (looks like a bra to me) out of condoms to promote safe sex.

Liu Xuanyi, 25, from Nanning city, made the scanty costume out of 300 condoms.

It also features the red ribbon used worldwide to promote HIV/Aids awareness.

Liu is said to be the first transsexual in Guangxi province.

Someone told me that condoms come in a whole lot more colours than this. If she had used a wider range of colours, it would look better, don't you think so?

Katie Price, formerly known as Jordan, launched a new line of lingerie last month in West London, under the label Katie Price Lingerie Range.

Katie, whose breasts grew from 32A to 34FF thanks to three implants, modelled her lingerie along with ten of her friends and family. That's why we see these non-slim, non-model material ladies doing the modelling.

Aiko Tanaka ~ Possibly Asia's Hottest Lingerie Model

Aiko Tanaka has got to be one of the top Asian lingerie models in the world. If you wonder why this post does not have too many of her images, that's because her photos are too hot (and pornish) and I don't want to risk my blog being banned.

Aiko, whose name translates to Love-Child, is of Japanese and Korean descent. Standing at only 5ft 4in (considered vertically-challenged in the West), she more than stands her own among the competition.

Last year Triumph International Japan came out with the Warmbiz Bra. Last week, they unveiled the “No! Shopping Bag Bra” (NO! reji-bukuro bra). If Warmbiz bra was to save on fuel usage, “No! Shopping Bag Bra” is to reduce the usage of shopping bags!

When the bra is being worn, the bag portions are folded away inside the bra cups, where they serve as extra padding. No need sponge anymore!

The bra quickly converts to a shopping bag by removing the bag portions from the cups and connecting the hooks on the bra’s underwire. The lace cups serve as decoration along with the shoulder straps, which are disconnected and tied to the top of the bag as ribbons.

It's gonna be Christmas and everyone's looking for gifts. I went searching for novelty lingerie. Now, I don't really need anymore ladies' lingerie for myself or as gifts, I have enough to last me a last time and beyond, as I'm in this line myself.

So I came across this webstore which sells knickers (panty laaaa) or boxers where you can have a personalised message on the front or maybe even back too.

They accept ANY message (up to 32 characters), any time and the item will be embroidered, boxed and gift wrapped.

I've seen their whole range. Rather novel. I wonder if there's anyone who ever ordered one with "F*** Me!" That would be mighty hilarious.

As a follow up on my post on the World's Most Expensive Bra, here's the World's Largest Bra by Stupid.com. It's a very novel idea, I must say. You can send it to someone just for a laugh, or maybe you know of someone who just might fit into it.

This bra is so huge, over three feet wide, it's ermm I think Z Cup. It is large enough to support two weather ballons, maybe it's Double Z?

Stupid.com should make a matching thong but they thought it's better to make the World's Largest Underpants instead. Men shouldn't be left out, you see?

This genuine pair of 100% cotton men's briefs has a 100-inch waist! Just like any normal briefs, it has a double-flap in front. Beats me what THAT is for.

TEN Most Expensive Lingerie 2006

Two days ago, I made a post on the Most Expensive Lingerie which was compiled by Forbes.com in conjunction with Valentine's Day 2005.

Today, I'm doing another post on the Most Expensive Lingerie compiled by Forbes.com (again) in conjunction with Valentine's Day 2006.

For this 2006 list, the prices are higher but yet again, Forbes.com did not include Victoria's Secret Diamond Fantasy Bras. Maybe it's because these lists are compiled in Febrauary while Victoria's Secret only release their Fantasy Bras in October, in time for the holiday season.

Overall, I prefer those from 2005. Apart from the lower prices, they are generally more refreshing in colours and style.

The 2006 picks, apart from a handful, look more aunty-ish and more suited for mature ladies, and we can see that the model used is more mature with a fuller, more realistic, figure.

.... according to Forbes.com who compiled this list in conjunction with Valentine's Day 2005. Of course those Victoria's Secret diamond bras and knickers are not taken into account. No one ever bought those (yet), anyway.

And they didn't even include "Lola Luna" whose wisps of fabric sell from at least USD45 and above.

Those who always ask me for discounts should understand that the less fabric a piece of lingerie has, the less coverage it affords, the more expensive it is.

The Mouawad-designed Heavenly '70s Fantasy bra contains 2,900 diamonds. Yeah, but do the straps stay up on the shoulders?

The model shows off this year's Heavenly '70s Fantasy bra from Victoria's Secret, a $10 million creation from jewelry designer Mouawad.

The brassiere's weighty highlight: a flawless 70-carat pear-shaped diamond in the center. The jeweled bra also is adorned with 2,900 diamonds set in 10-karat white gold. It will be featured in Victoria's Secret's Christmas catalog, due in mailboxes Friday.

This is Banks' second time introducing the dream bra, an annual event for nine years. In 1997, Banks, host of UPN's hit reality series America's Next Top Model, launched a $3 million bra made by Harry Winston.
Heidi Klum has been the model three times, including 2003, when she was newly pregnant with her daughter, who was born in May.

This year's bra isn't the most expensive one ever. That honor goes back to the economic heyday of 2000, when Winston created a $15 million bra.

The annual Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra has a new twist this year: It's relatively comfy, according to the woman wearing it.
The $6.5 million Hearts on Fire Diamond Fantasy Bra, weighing 800 carats, is "very sexy and very comfortable, and it doesn't dig in," coos model Karolina Kurkova, who says the design is significantly improved over the 2002 version, which she also modeled.
"Back then, I had a person come in and mold my breasts into a bra made of metal and diamonds," she says. This year, more than 2,000 round diamonds are embroidered onto the undergarment, which has a 10-carat diamond brooch centerpiece.

Relaxed fit aside, Kurkova is amused that no one has actually purchased the bra. The current version appears in the 2006 Victoria's Secret Christmas Dreams and Fantasies catalog, which arrives in mailboxes next week. "If someone ever does, I would really like to meet them."

Gawddddd IF I have that kinda money, I'd carve a perfect body first.

On occasions when I sold bridal garters, I usally get asked, "So small, how to wear?" Many people get confused between a garter belt and a garter.

A garter belt is worn around the waist. It's original purpose was to hold the stockings up, but now it's been made into an erotic piece of lingerie with all sorts of suggestive designs.

On the other hand, a bridal garter is small, because it is traditionally worn just above the right knee of the bride, under the bridal gown.

Tossing the garter is a tradition dating back to 14th Century France. At the end of the wedding reception, the bride would throw the garter to the assembled unmarried female guests and shower the recipient with good luck. The one who catches it is thought to be the next person to marry.

In countries where the garter is not part of the bridal attire, the bride's bouquet of flowers is used for this purpose, instead.

It is now customary for the groom to remove the garter and toss it to a group of unmarried male guests.

A bride may wear two garters; one for the traditional tossing of garter and the second one to be kept as a cherished keepsake.

Sometimes, even large corporations can commit "blunders", like the case of Google's GBuy - enuf said.

If you are aware, Victoria's Secret's recent line of lingerie has the four-legged animal.

Cyberpatrygal's WebStore is also selling this line, but I always need to caution our Muslim friends that the four-legged animal is a DOG.

Well, of course a Muslim can buy it and pretend that it's a tiger, but then it's up to the user, after having been made aware of the doggie.

One wonders if Victoria's Secret is being ignorant or insensitive to use a dog's image. They should use a safe animal like the, errr zebra.
